Common Questions about Flats

• Which flat is the most comfortable?

  We may be biased here, but there’s a reason the Tree Breezer flats get stellar reviews. The springy outsoles are made from sugarcane in a material we call SweetFoam®, made with the world’s first carbon negative green EVA. • Should flats be tight or loose?

  Is it ok if we say they should fit ‘just right’? Flats that fit too tightly will cause blisters and pain, especially on your heel and toes. But flats that are too loose will slip around, which can also cause blisters from that friction. And what’s just as bothersome—they won’t stay on your feet.

  Like other shoes, flats should be snug enough to not slip when you walk, but not so tight that they hurt. A rule of thumb: there should be a very slight gap between your heel and the shoe. (Note that the Tree Breezer Point may fit larger than your typical size because it’s built wider; we recommend sizing down by half.)

• Are flats good for walking?

  Go for it! Flats are refreshingly versatile—and that includes being able to wear them walking, shopping, doing errands, and whatever else your day brings. So yes, flats are good for walking.

• Do you wear flats with or without socks?

  Most people wear flats without socks. Allbirds flats are made with renewable, silky-smooth eucalyptus tree fiber—a breathable thermo-regulating material that keeps your feet airy and comfy. And if you ever want to wash your Allbirds, you can do so, no sweat. Just take out the insoles and either hand wash or machine wash on gentle/cold. Air dry, and off you go!
